natural capital for a richer life

Another function of greenSand - which is at least as important - is that as part of the weathering process (Mg2SiO4 + 4CO2 + 2H2O = 2Mg2 + SiO2 + 4HCO3-) it converts CO2 into bicarbonate (HCO3-). Through this process, it contributes to the reduction and perhaps even the prevention of global warming.

So not only are you helping your garden - you are also helping our planet.

greenSand olivine: groeiGoed for plants

Why use greenSand olivine in your garden?
greenSand stabilises the pH value of your soil and provides important minerals such as magnesium, manganese and iron. It also gives out bicarbonates which help to counteract soil acidification.

greenSand is the mineral olivine (Mg,Fe)2SiO4 in sand form. It is one of the most environmentally friendly materials that exist. greenSand counteracts the acidification of your soil, which means that liming is no longer required. On top of this, it gradually replenishes any magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is one of the most important nutrients for plants. It is essential for the production of chlorophyll, the part of the plant which gives it its green colour and allows it to grow (it is also the plant’s “energy factory”, converting the sun’s energy). In short, there is no doubt that greenSand would benefit your lawn or garden.

Long lasting, thanks to the “slow release” principle

greenSand dissolves slowly but surely through the weathering process and so has a long lasting effect. This means that greenSand olivine can be used in greater quantities, providing a lasting release of nutrients.

This is the principle behind ‘slow release’: a long-term way of allowing nutrients to be absorbed more efficiently by the plant.

Dosage and use:

You can use greenSand olivine throughout the year. We advise that you do not use more than 500 grams per square metre.

140 grams of olivine provides the same result as 1.43kg of lime.

Using the 2kg sprinkler offsets 2.5kg of CO2 emissions and makes up for approximately 25km driven by car. Each bag is a small contribution towards climate change - and many small contributions make a large one!

*It is best to avoid sprinkling greenSand olivine on or near plants which require an acidic, low-nutrient environment*
